Project: Eden
At Jam City we partnered with Disney and Lightstorm Entertainment to create a lush, living adventure and farm simulation experience to mobile devices. Project Eden was set in the vast and wonderful world of Pandora from James Cameron's Avatar franchise.
Below is a screen shot of our pre-Alpha build. We were building a world full of detail that encouraged players to explore the dense jungle of Pandora. Our goal was to make a living world with day/night cycles and dynamic weather. (This is an incomplete build and some textures and VFX were stilL WIP).
While I oversaw and directed the art team across concept, 3D, UI, and animation I also added a few assets of my own. Below are two new NPC's the player would meet along the way.
This was new style of Na'vi hut. One tribesman would wonder Pandora and make ruined human structures his home. These are two options. 1 built from the remains of a mobile base and 2 is the interior of a helicopter cockpit.
This was the final asset of the Na'vi hybrid hut. 3d modeling by our Lead 3d Artist and paint-over by our Lead Concept Artist. Directed by me.
I worked closely with the Level Designers to establish a plan and direction for each level by adding elements to their base 3d levels. These two images were the first two levels of the game that player could explore, go on missions, and gather resources.
